Description
Combe Island off the Cornish coast is a place of refuge, serenity and security for persons of high authority. But when one of its distinguished visitors is found hanging from the famous lighthouse, an apparent murder victim, the peace of the island is shattered. Commander Dalgliesh is called in, along with his team, but all of them have distractions and personal issues that make it difficult to concentrate on the crime. Moreover, they have scarcely begun to unravel the motives of the various suspects before a 2nd brutal killing occurs. [From publisher's description]
