In which the author, who founded and ran an orphanage in Haiti, recounts how he and his wife took in a toddler named Chika, who developed a life-threatening illness. She was enthusiastic and delightful, and captivated everyone at the orphanage, and the variety of hospitals she went to for help. Albom recounts his experience as a "father," the life lessons he learned in parenting Chika, and how children change our lives.
